Dear Visitor,

Our objectives are to introduce the friendly Saudi people to the unrevealed possibilities of Hungary can offer in business, entertainment, education, leisure and tourism.

During the last couple of years, political and economic ties between Hungary and Saudi Arabia steadily evolved, and the Kingdom became of high importance in the system of Hungary’s foreign relations in the Arab world. Along with political cooperation based on mutual trust, it is our definite objective and ambition to strengthen economic ties with Saudi Arabia both in the public and private sector.

We are also convinced that the heritage of our country being at the crossroads of different cultures, gives numerous and unique opportunities to explore and discover its cultural and touristic sites, its natural beauty while combining it with leisure, health or wellness treatments. With the increasing number of the Saudi students, the Hungarian higher education system and the world class research and scientific facilities are considered another area where a significant progress has been made in recent years.

We would like to confirm that Embassy’s objectives are based on the same above principles when promoting cooperation with the two other accredited Gulf countries, the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Yemen.

Future Leaders Program - Call for application

The Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA) is launching a call for applications for its Future Leaders Program for young researchers and recent graduates in international relations, from Hungary and abroad. The fellowship, which is conducted in English, will run from October 1, 2024, through January 31, 2025 (in person through late December and online in the final month). Deadlines Deadline for applications: 19 July 2024 Interviews: 22 July – 1 August 2024 Announcement of the results: 3 August 2024 Fellowship start date: 1 October 2024 Fellowship end date: 31 January 2025.

My Compatriots, dear Guests, I have arrived here today with gratitude in my heart. I am grateful to have here with me the young and old of our family, and that I can address you with them around me. I am also grateful that we are together in such numbers! I salute all the Hungarians in the world, also those who are following us with watchful affection from afar. This is the first time I am addressing you as the President of the Hungarians. I thank you for your trust expressed by my election. Primarily, I view your trust as a source of responsibility. My responsibility towards those supporting me is to not disappoint them. But I am also responsible for those who are as yet distrustful and disapproving. As President, I have the responsibility to showcase what my homeland, Hungary and my compatriots, the Hungarians mean to me, and how I see the life we share and the place we occupy in the world. My actions will follow from this personal Hungarian world view of mine.

The third meeting of the Hungarian-Saudi Intergovernmental Joint Economic Commission (JEC) was held on March 24, 2021 via video conference. The Hungarian delegation was led by H.E. Tamás Vargha, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and his Saudi partner was H.E. Eid M. Al Thaqafi, Undersecretary for Political and Economic Affairs of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
